Nice tutorial! But i can't figure out why you open the take recorder? Rendering a scene like this does not need to open it. You can actually skip every steps regarding the take rekorder, just add a camera into to sequencer and you are good to go. Most important is, what camera is selected in the camera cut section in the sequencer. This camera/cameras will be used for the output render.

But you can use the take recorder for animations and movement of your character for example – but this requires some more steps.

Or am i completely wrong and they changed this in 5.1?
